Frequently Asked Questions

What is a birth doula?

A birth doula comes alongside mothers and their partners in pregnancy and during birth, providing educational resources and emotional and physical support.

What is the difference between a birth doula and a midwife?

A midwife provides medical care while a doula is non-medical and focuses in providing informational, emotional and physical support.

Why hire a birth doula?

- Informational support during pregnancy and leading up to birth.

- Emotional support throughout labor and birth for mom and partner

- Physical support through comfort measures, massage, breathing techniques, positioning guidance, and more to aid in a smooth progression of labor.

Research studies show that mothers birthing with a doula...

- Are more likely to carry baby to full term

- Carry an overall higher satisfaction rate with their birthing experience

- Are more likely to birth without the aid of epidural or pain medication

- Are more likely to birth vaginally

- Are less likely to experience post-partum depression and anxiety
